This smoothie can revolutionize your veggie game – by supplying a good 2-3 servings of fruits/veggies in each one. Don’t be afraid of the greens! – They’re almost undetectable. Start with less, and add more as you become accustomed to the taste. “Baby” greens have a less intense flavor than the ‘adult’ versions.
I freeze all of my fruit & veggie ingredients, because I like my smoothie a bit more ‘frosty. ’You can always use fresh.
Ingredients
1 cup liquid of choice - I started with apple juice; and have since ‘evolved’ to flavored aloe juice – you could also use almond milk. (water, though, tends to make your smoothie pretty bland)
1-2 cups of greens – my faves are baby spinach & baby kale
½ ripe Banana
1 tbsp chia seeds
A selection of your favorite fruits. Some I like are: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, kiwi, pineapple. Another good addition is a large spoonful of yogurt or a few chunks of avocado.
If you’re wanting to try micro-greens – this smoothie would be a great place to add them as well!
Directions
Pour liquid into bottom of blender, top with fruit and seeds. Then pack in the greens, and blend away!
*Note: to really power up your nutrient and antioxidant content, try adding a serving of powdered greens, such as Nutridyne SuperFruit Greens (found at health food stores, or online).
