Smoothie Recipes + Ingredient Benefits

Below are the smoothie recipes we shared at the Staff Retreat this past weekend. Also included are the "benefits of ingredients" that were shared for your reference when deciding what to include in your own smoothie recipes. Enjoy!



Basic Healthy Fruit Smoothie

  • 1/2 Cup liquid of choice – water, juice, brewed tea

  • 3/4 to 1 Cup fruit of choice (frozen)

  • 1/4 Cup plain yogurt (optional)

  • Honey to taste


Basic Healthy Green Smoothie

  • 1/2 cup liquid of choice – water, juice, brewed tea

  • 1/2 Banana (frozen)

  • 1/4 cup Berries (frozen)

  • a handful of spinach leaves (frozen or fresh)

  • 1/4 Cup plain yogurt (optional)

  • Honey to taste


Tropical Smoothie

  • 1 small banana, peeled and cut up

  • 3 cups frozen mixed fruit blend (pineapple, strawberries, mango, and/or peaches)

  • 1 (6 ounce) container vanilla or coconut fat-free yogurt

  • 3/4 cup tropical blend carrot-based drink (V8 Splash)


Berry Smoothie

  • 2 cups mixed frozen berries

  • 1 (6 ounce) container blueberry fat-free yogurt

  • 1/2 cup light cranberry-raspberry juice

  • 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk powder

  • 1 tablespoon fresh blueberries (optional)


Pineapple Green Smoothie

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1/3 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 cup baby spinach

  • 1 cup frozen banana slices (about 1 medium banana)

  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • 1-2 teaspoons pure maple syrup or honey (optional)


Spinach-Avocado Smoothie

  • 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt

  • 1 cup fresh spinach

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1/4 avocado

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 1 teaspoon honey


Basic Fruit & Yogurt Smoothie

  • 3/4 cup nonfat plain yogurt

  • 1/2 cup 100% pure fruit juice

  • 1.5 cups (6½ ounces) frozen fruit, such as blueberries, raspberries, pineapple or peaches


Benefits of Ingredients

  • Yogurt – protein, calcium, vitamin D

  • Coconut Milk – electrolytes; manages blood sugar

  • Almond Milk – calcium, iron, magnesium

  • Aloe Juice – antioxidants; soothes digestion

  • Green Tea – Increases fat burn; antioxidants

  • Ginger – soothes digestion; anti-inflammatory

  • Lemon – detoxifies; tones digestive system

  • Cucumber – B vitamins; vitamin K

  • Peanut Butter Powder – protein; fat

  • Cocoa – antioxidants; flavanoids

  • Kale – vitamins K, C, A, B6 E; fiber; Detoxifies the liver

  • Spinach – vitamins K, E, B2, B6; iron; fiber; Detoxifies the liver

  • Strawberries – vitamin C; fiber

  • Bananas – fiber; magnesium

  • Mangoes – vitamin C; fiber

  • Pineapple – vitamin C;

  • Blueberries – fiber; potassium; vitamin B6

  • Apple – Fiber, antioxidants

  • Kiwi – vitamins C, K; Folate

  • Chia Seeds – calcium; protein; fiber

  • Flax Seeds – fiber; omega-3s; antioxidants

  • Honey – regulates blood sugar; reduces inflammation
