The Evolution of Me

By Traci P.

So Apple Ridge Staff – Here begins a new endeavor! As a commitment to help with our staff focus on health and wellness, I have offered to begin our health discussion by sharing my own wellness story. I am by no means an expert in the field. I am not the most healthy person you (or I) know, and I am certainly not an authority. However, I do possess one quality that can help to motivate others: I am passionate about health and wellness, I strive to constantly learn more, and I love to help others and share with those who are on a similar journey.

BLOG OVERVIEW

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM "AN APPLE A DAY"

TOTAL WELLNESS

Wellness is defined as “the state of being in good health.” This means something different to everyone, and encompasses so many different forms of “healthy.” The Total Wellness section of our blog contains health and wellness content that may not necessarily fit perfectly into one of our other categories but relates to wellness as a “big picture” topic.

EXERCISE FOR EVERYONE

Exercise exists is many different forms and there are different types of exercise to fit any lifestyle. Check out our exercise section of our blog to find a variety of different exercises... from yoga to running to weight lifting… home workouts to gym workouts. No matter where you are at with your physical abilities, there is some way to keep your body active!

GOOD EATS

Food is our body's fuel. Fueling your body with good food allows you to do the things you want to do each and every day. What you eat every day contributes to the way your body functions, and the sooner you start fueling your body properly, the sooner you will reap the benefits. This section will contain lots of nutrition information as well as a variety of yummy, healthy recipes you can try at home! Remember to consider sharing YOUR favorite recipes as well!

HEALTHY MIND

Health and Wellness is not ONLY what we eat and how we exercise. Having a healthy, happy mind is equally as important to our well-being. From meditation and mindfulness, to personal development, we must care for ourselves emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, to be successful and to be happy. Here we can share things such as different ways to focus your mind, books to read to challenge your mind, and more ways that you can care for your mind.

HEALTHY HOME

When it comes to improving our health, we often overlook how our environment can affect our body. We spend a lot of our time in our home and in our classrooms, so it's important we find ways to make these places healthier too. Whether it means cleaning up more often, purging and organizing, removing harmful toxins, or adding new things… paying attention to our environment can have an effect on not only our long-term health, but also on how we feel in the moment.

FINANCIAL HEALTH

This may just be one of the hardest types of health to give attention to, but in this section, we will focus on ways that you can take both big and small steps to manage your finances and feel comfortable where you are at. We will also talk about different ways to save money and ways to invest in your future!

STORIES & SUPPORT

Apple Ridge Academy encourages a community of support, in every way! The Stories and Support section is a place for everyone to share their own health and wellness stories, struggles, and successes, and to support each other no matter where we are all at in our own journey. We encourage everyone to share their own story and to build connections with your team members, continuously looking for new ways we can support each other’s health and wellness.

So what are you waiting for?
